For over a decade, the insurance world has known that work comp fraud lights up the paper trail to the premium cash register. It’s no secret comp law judges are over liberal giving away the
farm to claimants.
We know that lowering a premium by 10% is difficult for most cost control programs. However, 20% is surprisingly easy for this program. But let’s use 10% for the purpose of this breakdown.
We will base this analysis knowing that truckers cost at least $10,000.00 in WC coverage. If you save an employer 10% of premium that’s about $1000/yr per trucker. If a fleet has 100 drivers, that comes to $100,000 per year. The usual fees for cost containment are 10% of savings. That equates to $10,000/yr. However, a programs needs to continue for at least 3 years, so it comes to $30,000, or $300/driver for three years. Not a big investment to get deceitful claims closed.
This is a basic conservative outline; there is tremendous savings by an aggressive program challenging suspicious claims and keeping pressure on employees that are not 100% legitimate.
I have a new technique that will stop suspicious deceptive claims in their tracks. If you are interested send me an e-mail to my Hazmat mail I will provide you with an overview of the process.
